Previous Scans too Militaristic, need to find a way to celebrate the city’s Naval heritage in a fun way.
This is it! Love the emphasis on the lovely angle on the bow/forecastle
Initial version after Photoshop work. But it felt like the ship was battling the rest of the poster.
Solution was to embrace the repetition of streaking colors and highlight the great angle of the bow/forecastle.

The Shiptown Music Showcase is a new concert series/competition organized by Norfolk Public Library. Young people submit original music, patrons vote for their favorites on social media, ending with a performance on site at the branch location.
Norfolk Public Library does a great job reaching out to the community, and I wanted something that was dynamic and fun that celebrated the regional Naval tradition, but without militaristic overtones.
Provided a wide array of deliverables for every possible need in promoting a cohesive event.
